After completing a Masters degree in Geodesic Sciences in 1991, he was a Lecturer and Scientific researcher in Geomatics at the École polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne in Switzerland until 1994. He completed a Ph.D. in Geomatics at Laval University in January 1997 and was until 1999 a Senior consultant in geomatics for DMR Consulting Group Inc., and a professor in geomatics at Laval University until 2002. His current research interest is the study and improvement of implementation processes of geomatics technologies in businesses.

Chris Carver has been involved with GPS and Wireless communications since serving in the US Navy as the Navigator and Operations Officer of the first Trident submarine to go to sea with GPS in 1988. Over the years he has been involved in a number of innovative wireless systems used to transmit location information to commercial and consumer applications. He claims to have actually transmitted the coordinates 90North!
While at Magellan Systems in the '90s he lead the development of one the industry’s first Telematics systems (1993) which delivered GPS position reports for USAirways Express regional aircraft at takeoff, landing and enroute. He has been responsible for product development at a number of GPS and Wireless companies including CSI Wireless, Magellan Systems, Northstar, Infomove and Orbital Sciences. He holds an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh and a Masters in Engineering from Cornell. He is currently the President of FleetPoint, a company in Victoria, British Columbia, focused on the delivery of GPS and Wireless solutions to small and medium size businesses.

Gil Castle has been a GIS consultant in land use and real estate since 1978. Prior to starting Castle Consulting in 1992, he was a Regional Director of the Roulac Group of Deloitte & Touche (the real estate consulting division of the Big Five accounting firm).
Castle is a Past President of the Urban and Regional Information Systems Association, North Americas largest and oldest professional society for GIS practitioners. Castle has more than 150 publications and conference presentations to his credit, primarily on applied computer technology in land use decisions. He is the overall editor for the 400 page book Profiting from a Geographic Information System, the seminal text on GIS applications in the private sector, and GIS in Real Estate, jointly published by the Appraisal Institute and GIS World, Inc. Castle has lectured at numerous universities on applied GIS technology, including the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the University of Pennsylvania, Stanford University and the University of California at Berkeley. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics, Cum Laude, from Harvard University, and a Master of City Planning degree from the University of Pennsylvania.

He is the Appraisal Institute representative member of the Mortgage Industry Standards Maintenance Organization, also known as MISMO, whose mission is to develop, promote and maintain voluntary electronic commerce standards for the mortgage industry. Johns efforts as co-chair to the Real Estate Property Information Workgroup at MISMO include the development of the standard to describe and identify a residential property within the loan process chain. Ian Clemens is the Chief Technology Officer for IDV Solutions. In this role, he spearheads the technical strategy for IDVs products and services. Bringing over 10 years experience in the technology and consulting industries, he oversees research, development, deployment and system operations.
Prior to co-founding IDV Solutions, Ian formed and led the technology solutions group at Universal Map, the second largest publisher of geographic information in the United States. In this role, he headed up their Web-based mapping initiative, which focused on bringing businesses standards-based Web mapping tools using nascent XML standards. Dr. Richard Fenker is a Professor of Psychology at TCU and a scientist/writer/inventor who has worked in the area of location science for almost 30 years – longer if you count his first challenge after graduating from college, which was to design a computer program for NASA to locate satellites in the sky over sunny Cleveland, Ohio. Although he has occasionally helped a client with his work, his greatest love has been the design of the forecasting systems that tie to location intelligence. His book, The Site Book, outlines the philosophical approach underlying many of his location prediction models. He is also the founder of Prediction Analytics, which just recently joined the Experian family, and is focused today on a variety of optimization and location-related problems that use agent-based technology for smarter, more dynamic predictions. You can usually find him at his new organization, The Centre for the Science of Retail Modeling and Forecasting; although, better call ahead – he may be on the golf course.

Chris Holmes is VP, Strategic Development of The Open Planning Project (TOPP), a non-profit organization based in New York. TOPP is dedicated to enhancing the ability of all citizens to engage in meaningful dialog about their environment, and leads development on the open source GeoServer Project to help create a free, distributed and open geographic information infrastructure. Chris worked as the lead developer of GeoServer from 2002 - 2005, but gave up the role to pursue a Fulbright Scholarship in Zambia to examine the potential for Open Source GeoSpatial software to implement Spatial Data Infrastructures in developing countries.
In 2006 he returned to TOPP, taking more of a management role to further the development of GeoServer, growing it in a sustainable way. He also has served on the Project Management Committee of GeoTools, the most advanced Open Source Java toolkit, since 2002, and was recently elected as a board member to the new Open Source Geospatial Foundation. He graduated from Stanford University with a History Major and Computer Science Minor.

Prior to WaveMarket, Scott was at the United States Department of Defense, where he oversaw software development teams at Ft. Meade, MD and at the Army Research Lab at Austin, TX. The systems developed supported large military customers, employing the use of advanced data mining and machine learning algorithms in Internet security and traffic modeling applications. Before joining the Department of Defense, he spent four years in the Networking Technologies division of Silicon Graphics, Inc. He supported directly a number of large customers in the ISP, automotive and government sectors.
Hotes has published in a wide range of disciplines from discrete mathematics and elementary particle theory to analytical chemistry and geo-physics. He has worked at three Department of Energy National Laboratories, including the National Institute of Science and Technology and the Los Alamos National Laboratory. He completed his Ph.D. in Mathematical Physics from the University of California at Berkeley in 1992.

Dr. Kenneth Inman is Vice President of Analytics and Primary Research for Integras, a division of Claritas Inc. Integras provides custom primary research, high-end analytical consulting and advanced decision support for marketing and location strategy. He is based at company headquarters in San Diego, Calif. He has extensive experience in the research and development of segmentation systems and consumer predictive models using both household and geodemographic data and information.
Before joining Claritas in 1995, he served as a Senior Financial Economist at a financial risk management firm called CATS. Prior to that, he was an Assistant Professor at Claremont McKenna College, teaching statistics, macroeconomics, econometrics and economic forecasting. He is a frequent speaker on the application and use of segmentation, and has written several papers on consumer behavior modeling.

Gary Lang, the Vice President of Engineering for the Infrastructure Solutions Division of Autodesk, first joined the company as a programmer in 1989. After serving in a variety of roles including Director of Internet Technology, he left in 1996 to co-found a management consulting firm that focused on strategic consulting, product development, and business development. As a principal of the firm, Gary consulted with numerous technology companies including Intuit, Iomega, Giftcertificates.com, Thomson Financial Services and General Magic, helping to manage and fine tune their engineering and product development organizations. During this time Gary managed the start up of three companies as Vice President of Engineering.
In 2003 Gary rejoined Autodesk in his current role in which he leads the engineering, quality assurance, technical publications, and product design teams for the Infrastructure Solutions Division. Most recently, he became a driving force behind Autodesk’s first open source product offering, MapGuide Open Source, and he is a founder and board member of the Open Source Geospatial Foundation. Paul Smith is a spatial industry veteran with over 25 years in GIS, remote sensing and geographic data production. As COO of GlobeXplorer, Smith’s primary responsibilities are focused on the revenue and content acquisition goals of the company. He has been part of GlobeXplorer management team since inception. He built the company’s global network of earth imaging content partners, leading to the development of GlobeXplorers extensive online catalog of spatial content at nearly one petabyte in 2005.
Prior to GlobeXplorer, he served as a vice president at HJW & Associates, Inc., where he pioneered the distribution of pre-made and custom-created earth imagery products via CD-ROM and the Internet through partners with NASA and Space Imaging (now known as GeoEye). Sonnen has been involved in the SIM marketplace for more than 30 years and has been IDC’s senior consultant for spatial information management since 1991. Dr. Anthony Stefanidis is Assistant Professor in Spatial Information Science & Engineering at the University of Maine. His expertise is in the analysis of imagery and video for spatiotemporal analysis, sensor networks and image-based geospatial information systems. His current research activities are funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF), and the National Geospatial-Information Agency (NGA). He is also a consultant for various technology firms, and is involved with several on-going SBIR efforts.
Dr. Stefanidis has co-edited two books, one on image analysis for GIS applications, and another on distributed sensors for geospatial modeling. He has also authored or co-authored numerous articles in journals and fully refereed conference proceedings. His work has been featured in various international professional publications. For his scholastic and research achievements, he has received numerous national and international awards.

Dr. Johnny S. Tolliver holds a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Tennessee. He has worked in the fields of computer security, trusted operating systems and expert systems and has published several refereed journal articles in the field of fusion energy research. He has experience developing a secure distributed health information system and a large client/server atmospheric dispersion calculation using CORBA, Java RMI, and the Java Native Interface. Recent interests include the development of standards-based Web services for sensor information and Java Micro Edition GPS tracking applications for Java-enabled phones using Java location APIs and Bluetooth technologies.
Dr. Tolliver has taught classes on C and C++, computer security, Kerberos and encryption technologies and holds a U.S. patent on a software encryption scheme. Prior to joining IIA, Scott worked four years for Fair, Isaac and Co. in their Strategy Science division, where he helped optimized the credit decisions for a number of major banks. In 2004 Geoff received one of ten annual global technology awards from Oracle Corporation for his technical innovation and leadership in the use of Oracle.
Prior to joining Autodesk, Geoff was Director of Software Engineering at MCI VISION* Solutions, which was acquired in 1999 by Autodesk. Before that, at TYDAC Technologies, Geoff lead the development of one of the first Windows-based desktop geospatial analysis products. At the time of Geoff’s departure, TYDAC Technologies was one of the top 10 GIS companies in the world, with more than 3,000 systems installed in more than 60 countries.
