Paul Amos Paul Amos, Managing Director of the Wharton GIS Research Laboratory at the University of Pennsylvania

Paul Amos is the Managing Director of the Wharton GIS Research Laboratory at the University of Pennsylvania. He has over eight years experience with desktop geographic information systems software and is an ESRI certified ArcGIS instructor. Since coming to The Wharton School seven years ago, Mr. Amos has focused on customizing GIS software for commercial real estate clients, developing internet mapping software applications and analyzing residential property values with GIS. Mr. Amos has recently started writing GIS software product reviews for Directions Magazine. Prior to coming to The Wharton School, Mr. Amos was a GIS Analyst at Smith-Parke & Co., Inc. in Sarasota, Florida. He has earned Masters Degrees in Technology Management from the University of Pennsylvania and in Geography from the University of Florida and a Bachelor’s degree in Finance from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown.

Joseph R. Francica Joseph R. Francica, Editor-in-Chief and General Manager, Directions Magazine

Mr. Francica is Editor-in-Chief and General Manager of Directions Magazine. He is also the principal of Geodezix Consulting, a company providing location-based business intelligence and strategy for corporations needing market research and geospatial application solutions. He was the past editor of Business Geographics Magazine and a regular columnist for GEOWorld Magazine from 1991 until 2001. He has published more than 100 articles on topics including market research, retail trade area analysis and the use of GIS technology for business applications. Mr. Francica is a co-founder and current CEO of GISbid.com, a project marketplace for posting and bidding on spatial information technology opportunities. Mr. Francica received his Bachelors from Rutgers University, a Master’s from Dartmouth College, and an MBA from the Edwin L. Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University.

David C. Schmittlein David C. Schmittlein, Deputy Dean, The Wharton School of Business, Ira A. Lipman Professor, Marketing

Dr. Schmittlein is involved in research, design and analysis of market research information for measuring customer perceptions and preferences, and for assessing the impact of marketing actions. He has worked in areas related to antitrust, patent infringement, trademark and trade dress infringement, deceptive advertising and market-based evidence pertaining to damage assessment.

Jack Dangermond Jack Dangermond, Founder and President of ESRI

Jack Dangermond is the founder and president of ESRI, the technical and market leader in GIS software. ESRI (Redlands, California) pioneers innovative solutions for working with spatial data on the desktop, across the enterprise, in the field and on the Web.

ESRI has the largest GIS software install base in the world with more than one million users in more than 100,000 organizations representing business, government, Non-Government Organizations (NGOs), and academia. Mr. Dangermond fostered the growth of ESRI from a small research group to an organization of 2,700 employees, known internationally for GIS software development, training and services. ESRI now has 16 subsidiaries as well as more than 72 distributors worldwide. ESRI also has 11 regional offices throughout the United States and continues to grow at a steady rate.

Mr. Dangermond is recognized not only as a pioneer in spatial analysis methods, but also as one of the most influential people in GIS. Over the last 30 years, Mr. Dangermond has delivered keynote addresses at numerous international conferences, published hundreds of papers on GIS, and given thousands of presentations on GIS around the world. He is the recipient of a number of awards, honorary degrees, lectureships and medals.

Bryan Fields Bryan Fields, Founding Partner of Millennium Retail Partners (MRP)

Mr. Fields is a Founding Partner of Millennium Retail Partners (MRP). MRP provides real estate advisory services to the retail real estate sector. Previously he was with Home Depot Real Estate Department from April 1984 through February 2002. He served as SVP leading all real estate activities for the company from July 1997. He created and maintained the real estate strategic plan for the entire organization including Home Depot, Expo, International, offices and distribution facilities.

Mr. Fields recruited and led a high performance real estate team opening up to 200 new stores per year. Approximately 80% of the team’s activity was ground up development involving site selection, site acquisition, site plan negotiations, entitlements, environmental analysis, excess property sales or leases, and document negotiation. This team met its store opening goal in every year.

Mr. Fields served on the Board of Trustees for the International Council of Shopping Centers from 2000 to 2003. He has a B.S. in Economics and an MBA from the Wharton Division of the University of Pennsylvania.

Alan Nunns Alan Nunns, General Manager of Global Technology and Strategy for the ChevronTexaco Information Technology Company (ITC)

Dr. Nunns is the General Manager of Global Technology and Strategy for the ChevronTexaco Information Technology Company (ITC), which serves customers worldwide within ChevronTexaco Oil Company. His group manages technology development and internal marketing, IT research, competency development, strategic sourcing and business planning for ITC.

Dr. Nunns began his career with Chevron in 1982 as a research geophysicist. He was a principal contributor to Chevron’s first generation of interactive systems for seismic interpretation and geophysical analysis. He was later team leader for basin analysis, and founding member of Chevron’s structural geology research group. In 1993 he moved overseas to Chevron Nigeria Ltd. (CNL). He was involved in the seismic interpretations that led to the discovery of the large Benin River, Dibi and Gbokoda oil fields. He was the earth science advisor for CNL’s largest asset area and coordinated CNL’s first geosteered horizontal wells. Upon returning to the United States, Mr. Nunns was the headquarters IT manager for Chevron’s international upstream operations, before his current assignment.

Dr. Nunns received a B.Sc. with honors in geology from Auckland University, and a Ph.D. in geophysics from Durham University, where he was a Commonwealth Scholar. After graduation, he spent two years as a NATO postdoctoral scholar at Columbia University.

Dean Stoecker Dean Stoecker, President, SRC LLC

Dean is president and co-founders of SRC, LLC, and a Location Intelligence veteran of 22 years. His strong knowledge of industry dynamics, technology trends and applications of micromarketing and spatial technologies has led SRC into a leadership role in the design, development and deployment of Integrated Micromarketing Systems with more than 60,000 customers worldwide. His content background is extensive having been in management roles with Dun & Bradstreet and Strategic Mapping. His understanding of location-based, business intelligence software and business process requirements led SRC in the creation of advanced component technologies which provide data, country, GIS and platform independence that support single user desktop to departmental to enterprise-wide solutions for Fortune 500 companies. Under Dean’s leadership, SRC has deployed advanced location based technologies for global companies including BP, Sprint, Bank of America and Ford Motor Company, and under OEM relationships with ESRI, Generation 5 and the U.S. Census Bureau. He received his MBA from Pepperdine University and a BS in International Business from the University of Colorado, Boulder in 1979.

Jason Angelides Jason Angelides, Director of Marketing, TruePosition

Jason Angelides is the Director of Marketing at TruePosition in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. Mr. Angelides joined TruePosition in 1998, but has been involved in the design and development of wireless products since 1994. Mr. Angelides has a Bachelor of Science from Villanova University and a Master’s Degree from the Illinois Institute of Technology.

Jay Benson Jay Benson, Vice President, GDT

Jay joined GDT in 1999 and is responsible for strategy and product development and for defining new markets and applications for spatial data. Since joining GDT, he has helped expand GDT’s presence in several new markets, including the evolving LBS marketplace, which includes applications such as IVNS, fleet/AVL, and wireless-based navigation services. He has driven and secured partnerships and contracts with several key organizations, ranging from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology for image server technical assistance to the outsourcing relationship for offshore vector creation to the data contract with the premier in-vehicle concierge service. He holds a bachelor’s degree in geography from Dartmouth College and an MBA from Dartmouth’s Amos Tuck School of Business Administration.

Joe Berry Joe Berry, Vice President, GIS and LBS, TeleAtlas

Joe is responsible for building partnerships with customers by assuring their success in the areas of GIS and LBS. He brings more than 20 years of telecommunications, enhanced information services and telematics industry experience to Tele Atlas. He began his career with Ameritech in system engineering developing enhanced safety and security systems such as E-911 and Security Link. His work in the enhanced information services arena has earned him national prominence including an International Engineering Consortium’s Info-vision award and U.S. patents. Joe left SBC and the telecommunications industry to help expand the emerging telematics industry. Before joining Tele Atlas he was senior director of product management at Wingcast, a telematics service provider. He also served as executive director, responsible for developing relationships with the automotive OEMs for Wingcast.

James Bisker James Bisker, Director of Research, Insurance Practice, TowerGroup

James (Jamie) has been with TowerGroup for over four years and is currently the Director of Research for the Insurance Practice. Previous TowerGroup assignments include Research Analyst and Senior Research Analyst with the practice. He has over 25 years of experience in information systems with 18 years in the insurance industry. In that time, Jamie was responsible for technology implementations, strategic planning, and technology architectures in life as well as property and casualty (P&C) insurance. His areas of specialization include intelligent systems, geographic information systems, data warehousing and business intelligence. As a research analyst, it was his role to understand the business models that drive the insurance industry and recognize how and when information technology can provide a competitive advantage in today’s marketplace.

Prior to joining TowerGroup, Jamie held technology positions at Nationwide Insurance Enterprise including Technology Architect with the GatesMcDonald subsidiary, Technology Research Analyst for Intelligent Systems with the property and casualty company, and Technology Liaison with the life company. Before joining Nationwide, he was a Distributed Data Processing Consultant for Sterling Software. He has written several corporate technology strategies on high performance computing, geographic information systems and artificial intelligence.

Tony Buxton Tony Buxton, Chief Executive Officer, Tactician Corporation

Tony is Chief Executive Officer of Tactician Corporation, where he is responsible for executive management and strategic planning, supervision of product engineering and direction of international activities. He co-founded the company in 1988. He graduated in Architecture from Sydney University, and has an Affiliate diploma from Australian Stock Exchange. He pioneered the Australian demographics industry by co-founding APASCO in 1974. Overall, he has 29 years in Geo-targeting technologies at the design and client execution level, and has interacted with senior management of clients, suppliers and technology partners in the US, Europe, Asia and South America during past 15 years.

Kanwar Chadha Kanwar Chadha, Vice President of Marketing, SiRF Technology

Kanwar Chadha is a Founder, Member Board of Directors and Vice President of Marketing at SiRF Technology, a market leader in innovative GPS based location technology for mobile consumer and mainstream commercial platforms. His responsibilities include establishing the company’s vision, corporate strategies and strategic alliances. He has over 20 years of experience in various marketing and management positions. Prior to founding SiRF, he served as General Manager of the multimedia group and Director of Strategic Marketing at S3 Inc. where he led the development of innovative audio and video processing technologies. Before joining S3, Mr. Chadha was the Chairman and co-founder of AQuesT, Inc., a developer of multimedia and 3D graphics acceleration products. From 1983 to 1989, he was at Intel in various product-marketing positions including Product Line Manager for the i860 RISC processor and floating point coprocessors 8087/287/387.

Ed Clary Ed Clary, CIO, Haverty Furniture Cos., Inc.

Ed is the Chief Information Officer for Haverty Furniture Cos., Inc. and a member of its Management Committee. Ed is a native of High Point, NC. He attended Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina where he received a BSBA with a dual concentration in Finance and Information Systems. He received a Masters of Business Information System from Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia. He lives in Duluth, Georgia and has a wife and three children.

William S. Cody William S. Cody, Managing Director, Jay H. Baker Retailing Initiative, The Wharton School, and Lecturer, Marketing Department, The Wharton School

Mr. Cody is the managing director of the Baker Retailing Initiative and a lecturer in the Marketing Department at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. Prior to joining the Baker Initiative, he was a Senior Manager with Accenture’s Strategy & Business Architecture Group where he was a consultant to U.S. and European retailers in the areas of marketing, merchandising and finance.

Kevin Coleman Kevin Coleman, President, Technolytics & Contributing Columnist on Cyberterrorism and Homeland Security for Directions Magazine

Kevin G. Coleman, Ph.D., is a Kellogg School of Management Executive Scholar and a seasoned executive with nearly two decades of experience. His accomplishments stand out among the leaders in his industry and he has helped to write the rules of doing business in the new economy. Dr. Coleman is a sought after source of insights and information about today’s fast-paced business & technology environments and has participated in more than forty interviews and published more than a dozen white papers. Dr. Coleman brings with him a unique perspective on management, technology and the global business environment. Michael Cosentino, Geospatial Market Development Manager, Sun Microsystems

Michael Cosentino has over 25 years of experience in GIS, LBS and remote sensing. He is the Geospatial Market Development Manager at Sun Microsystems since 1987. In his current position he develops Sun’s approach to the geospatial markets, recruits the leading software and service partners, works with field sales to secure strategic accounts, serves on and sponsors geospatial industry standards efforts, and provides Sun engineering with a user’s perspective on the geospatial application and service environment.

Michael holds a Bachelors degree in Forest Resource Management from UC Berkeley and a Masters degree in Biogeography (RS/GIS) from UC Santa Barbara. He has authored GIS and remote sensing research papers, magazine articles, and is a former contributing author to the Manual of Remote Sensing. He is a former Marine and served in Vietnam as a combat engineer.

Lawrence J. Daniel Lawrence J. Daniel, President & CEO, Conclusive Strategies

Mr. Daniel is the former president and CEO of the Daniel Consulting Group, LLC, and vice president of research and information systems at the Castillo Company. He is a widely published expert in geo-demographic information systems and the application of GIS technology to consumer marketing strategy. He holds an MA Geography from University of Texas at Austin and a BSc in Computer Science from Bucknell University.

Robert Denaro Robert Denaro, Vice President and General Manager, NAVTEQ

Leading the North American Business and Government Solutions Business Unit, Bob leverages his extensive background in the positioning, location and mapping industry to expand NAVTEQ’s business in the GIS, Fleet, Enterprise and Government markets. He joined NAVTEQ from Rand McNally & Co. where he was Senior Vice President, General Manager of Global Business Solutions, responsible for a broad range of business-to-business applications and consumer technology products and services.

Prior to joining Rand McNally, Bob was Vice President and Director of Motorola’s Consumer Telematics Products, a division he launched after five years heading the company’s GPS business. The unit introduced the first integration of wireless data cellular phones, GPS and real-time computation for the automotive industry.

Earlier in his career, Denaro launched Trimble Navigation’s Fleet Management and Vehicle Tracking Division and was co-founder and Vice President of TAU Corporation, an industrial software products company, the latter producing the first commercial differential GPS systems. He started his career in the United States Air Force where he served for nine years, the last of which was in research and development at the Navstar Global Positioning System Joint Program Office where he served as a USAF Captain.

Walt Doyle Walt Doyle

Walt Doyle is the Vice President and General Manager of MapQuest Business Solutions, a division of MapQuest.com Inc., a subsidiary of AOL Time Warner (TWX). With more than 1,400 customers around the globe, MapQuest Business Solutions is the world’s leading provider of Location Based Services Software. Prior to joining MapQuest, Walt was a Vice-President of Net2Phone, Inc. (NTOP) where he was responsible for strategic initiatives and investments. During his tenure with Net2Phone, Walt was responsible for the integration of VoIP technology on popular instant messaging platforms such as Yahoo! Messenger and MSN Messenger, as well as placing strategic investments with companies such as SpeechWorks (SPWX) and Webex (WEBX).

Prior to Net2Phone, Walt was an early partner in SpotMedia Communications, the publisher of GameSpot.com, and was instrumental in its acquisition by Ziff-Davis Media. Subsequent to the acquisition, Walt joined the ZDNet (now CNET) management team as Director of Business Development. Walt’s career began at Dow Jones, Inc. (DJ) where he worked for five years (most of them spent overseas) as the International Sales and Marketing Manager. In that capacity, Walt directed expansion into the Asian, European and Latin American markets for broadcast, dial-up and web-based products including DowVision, The Wall Street Journal Interactive Edition, and Dow Jones News/Retrieval. Walt is a graduate of Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia and lives in Philadelphia with his wife and family.

Olivia Duane-Adams Olivia Duane-Adams, Senior Executive and Founding Partner of SRC, LLC

Olivia Duane-Adams is a senior executive and founding partner of SRC, LLC, a California-based system integration organization that assists companies in the design, development and deployment of data-driven integrated micro-marketing applications. She has worked with clients in the automotive, entertainment, media, insurance and telecommunications industries. Her expertise is focused on the domain of information access used to drive for sales, marketing and strategic planning applications.

Olivia has successfully initiated and executed integrated solutions as such companies as Ford Motor Company, Comcast Communications, McClatchy Company, Kawasaki Motor Corporation, AT&T Consumer Services, Cingular Wireless and Universal Music & Home Video Distribution.

In 1997, she was involved in the first implementation of an Intranet deployment at the Thomson Corporation. This application was to enable all 55 newspapers in the Thomson family with access to market and household data for advertising sales and circulation development and was the first of its kind in the newspaper industry. For both the U.S. and Canadian properties, over 500 sales and circulation development personnel were provided with the information to drive sales.

She received a bachelor of science degree from Castleton State College in Vermont.

Scott Fingerhut Scott Fingerhut, General Manager, Business Optimization, TIBCO Software Inc.

Scott is the General Manager of TIBCO’s Business Optimization product line, which includes their portal and business activity monitoring products. TIBCO Software Inc. (NASDAQ:TIBX) is the leading independent business integration software company in the world, demonstrated by market share and analyst reports. In addition, TIBCO is a leading enabler of Real-Time Business, helping companies become more cost-effective, more agile and more efficient. Scott has authored published articles on application integration, business intelligence and data mining and has spoken at a variety of industry and government conferences. He previously held marketing and public relations management positions at the world’s largest global public relations agency, Weber-Shandwick representing customers that include Compaq Computers and Hewlett-Packard. He holds a masters degree in organizational management and bachelors in business management from San Diego State University.

Brady Foust Brady Foust, Ph.D., University of Wisconsin

Brady Foust is a geographer with more than 35 years of academic and applied expertise and experience in retail site location, GIS and the creation and management of large spatial databases. He holds a PhD from the University of Tennessee and has taught in the University of Wisconsin System since 1971. He is the author or co-author of more than fifty publications and papers dealing with theoretical and applied geography.

Andrew Galasso Andrew Galasso, Vice President Real Estate, Finance and Analysis, The Charming Shoppes

Mr. Galasso has been with Charming Shoppes for 14 years and currently is involved in corporate strategic acquisitions. He is responsible for store based modeling and analysis and real estate strategic planning for Charming Shoppes, which comprises several chains, such as Lane Bryant, Fashion Bug and Catherines, with 2,400 store locations and $2.4 billion in sales.

Mike Gee Mike Gee, Project Director, Malibu Project

Mike Gee is an independent contractor and currently serves as system architect and project manager, responsible for Bell West’s Malibu initiative. Mr. Gee has over 15 years of systems analysis, design and large-scale project delivery, and is a recognized expert in web services deployment. He has worked for KPMG, Photon Systems, GT Group Telecom and most recently was the Director, Software Development for Cquay Technologies.

Michael Graff Michael Graff, General Manager for Microsoft’s MapPoint Business Unit

Michael Graff is the general manager for Microsoft’s MapPoint business unit. He is responsible for the worldwide product development, localization, marketing, sales and support for Microsoft’s family of location-based applications and services. He has 15 years of experience in the personal computer industry with over 12 years of business and product management experience at Microsoft.

Formed in 1993, Microsoft’s MapPoint business unit develops a range of products and services for personal computers, mobile devices and the Internet. The MapPoint team develops and operates Microsoft’s first XML web service, the MapPoint Web Service. Together with the soon-to-be released MapPoint Location Server, the MapPoint Web Service enables software developers to easily add location intelligence into their PC or mobile applications, business processes, and Web sites. Additional products include the best-selling Streets & Trips 2004 consumer mapping software for North America, AutoRoute 2004 consumer mapping for Europe, Microsoft MapPoint 2004 for business users, Pocket Streets for the Pocket PC owner and the MSN Maps & Directions web site.

Cary Gregory Cary Gregory, Vice President of ProShop Business Development at Hilti Inc.

Cary Gregory, Vice President of ProShop Business Development at Hilti Inc., is considered an innovator in business development, strategic alliances and customer relationship management. He has more than 20 years experience in general management, business development, sales and marketing. His leadership abilities were honed in a variety of industries at world class companies including Hilti, Inc., Ames/True Temper, Inc., Rubbermaid, Inc., Stanley Steemer International Inc. and Eastern Airlines.

Gregory earned a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing from Ohio State University, and an MBA from Penn State University. He also participated in executive management programs at Wake Forest University and Ashland University.

Gregory is active in organizations that focus on American Civil War studies, most notably the Friends of the National Parks at Gettysburg. He is a founding sponsor of the Fund for the National Garden at the United States Botanic Garden in Washington, DC and serves on the Board of Trustees.

Eric Harnden Eric Harnden, Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer, AgencyPort

Eric Harnden is Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer of AgencyPort, a software company focused on building best-of-breed software that improves traditional distribution and underwriting efficiency for the insurance industry. Prior to AgencyPort, he was manager of the eCommerce Development group at John Hancock Financial Services, Inc., a 50 person team that created a number of award-winning transactional eBusiness site in the insurance industry. Eric regularly speaks at eCommerce and insurance industry conferences. Eric holds a bachelor’s degree from Connecticut College.

Brian Heber Brian Heber, Director, Property and Casualty Marketing, Nationwide Insurance

Nationwide Insurance is the sixth largest property and casualty insurer in the nation with more than 4.5 million customers and $12.1 billion in revenue. Mr. Heber is an experienced market planning and business intelligence professional with extensive property casualty insurance industry experience. Recently, he led the development of a location-based business intelligence application to assist Nationwide in market evaluation, planning and performance monitoring.

Rich Hollander Rich Hollander, President of the CustomerID Division, The Buxton Company

Mr. Hollander is President of the CustomerID Division at Buxton, which provides sophisticated customer and market research that allows retailers to understand and identify their best customers and to create new locations that better serve their customers. The product also provides highly accurate information to allow businesses to target those best customers for direct mail.

Mr. Hollander brings a wealth of retail experience and knowledge to his clients. Like founder Tom Buxton, Hollander has more than two decades of executive management experience at Tandy Corporation, including developing and running the company’s Incredible Universe division. He was then recruited by Cash America, the nation’s largest pawn business, to run its start-up rent-to-own company. Joining in 2000, Hollander has added numerous nationally known companies to Buxton’s client list, including Harry & David’s, Comp USA, FedEx, Dave & Buster’s and Panda Express.

Hartwell Hooper Hartwell Hooper, Director of Market Research for CVS Realty Co.

Hartwell Hooper is an applied geographer with 15 years’ experience in retail site location analysis, GIS and customer profiling. He is the Director of Market Research for CVS Realty Co., where his department currently conducts over 700 individual site studies per year. Mr. Hooper’s previous posts include Director of Operations with Retail Analytics and Vice President at Wachovia Bank. He holds a master’s degree from the University of South Carolina.

As Technical Evangelist for the MapPoint Business Unit, Steve serves as an intermediary between Microsoft and customers across the entire MapPoint product line including MapPoint 2004, the MapPoint Web Service, and the brand new MapPoint Location Server. He explains technical details and the expanding uses for MapPoint technologies to customers and provides feedback to the Microsoft product and development teams that create enhancements and future versions. Lombardi joined Microsoft in January 2002 after many years in the GIS industry. Steve is a frequent speaker at industry events, and loves to roll up his sleeves and write some code for developers.

Dr. Xavier Lopez Dr. Xavier Lopez

Dr. Xavier Lopez is Director of Oracle’s Spatial, Location and Network technologies group. Dr. Lopez leads Oracle’s efforts to incorporate spatial technologies across Oracle’s database, application server, and eBusiness applications. He has 14 years of experience in the area of GIS and spatial databases. He holds advanced engineering and planning degrees from University of Maine, MIT, and the University of California, Davis. He’s a recipient of Fulbright, Ford and UC Berkeley Postdoctoral Fellowships investigating GIS technologies. Dr. Lopez has been active in numerous academic and government research initiatives on geographic information. He is the author of a book on government spatial information policy and has authored more than 50 scientific and industry publications in areas related to spatial information technology. Finally, he has served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Nepal.

Abraham Louwerse, Leader, Dow Chemical, Pipeline Division, Europe

Mr. Louwerse is responsible for the operation and technical integrity for about 1,500 km. Of pipeline in The Netherlands for ethylene, propylene and liquid hydrocarbons, including booster stations. He has been involved in building a Pipeline Integrity Management System for Dow Holland and Germany. Preparations are being made for USA (and Global).

Hans van der Maarel Hans van der Maarel, eXQte

After studying Geo-Informatics at the Hogeschool van Utrecht (University of Professional Education) Mr. Van der Maarel joined eXQte in 1999 as a GIS Engineer. eXQte specializes in selling and supporting a number of GIS and cartography related software products. Being, at that point, the only employee of the company, he has been involved in all aspects of its day-to-day operations, from sales demonstrations to maintaining the internal network and company website. Currently he is taking care of setting up and giving training courses, consultancy, doing tech-support and finding new ways to use existing software. The development of new solutions, like the one presented at the Location Technology and Business Intelligence Executive Symposium, is made possible by in-depth knowledge of GIS systems, programming experience and a good eye for the customer’s needs. Mr. van der Maarel is currently living in the small village of Klundert, The Netherlands. The past five years at Air-Trak, he has been working with business partners integrating their custom software applications with the Cloudberry line of AVL (Automatic Vehicle Location) and 2-way wireless messaging embedded and Nextel GPS-phone products to complete the business solution. George is the Chief Technology Officer for MapInfo, and has more than 20 years experience helping enterprises integrate complex spatial information systems into their networks and use location intelligence to drive more insightful decisions. He joined MapInfo Corporation in 1996 as director of software development, following the acquisition of the SpatialWare businesses unit from Unisys Corporation. Within four years his work developing MapInfo’s enterprise mapping R&D and dedication to the customers promoted him to group vice president and finally chief technology officer.

Today, George also heads MapInfo’s Business Continuity Program, designed so companies can gain location intelligence at-a-glance about where their facilities, assets, resources and people are located. Mr. Moore is passionate about geospatial visualization and analysis. The conceptual distillation of some of this work can be found in the book, Integrated Geospatial Technologies, co-authored with Jeff Thurston and Tom Poiker. Mr. Moore holds Bachelors degrees in Computer Science, Mathematics and Physics, as well as a Masters Degree in Civil Engineering all from the University of Washington.

Henry Morris Henry Morris

Henry Morris is Group Vice President for Applications and Information Access software research at IDC, a worldwide research firm with headquarters in Framingham, Massachusetts. He started the Analytics/Data Warehousing at IDC and coined the term "analytic applications" in 1997. In 2002, he led a major study on the Financial Impact of Business Analytics, examining the ROI of analytics projects at 43 sites in North America and Europe.

Dr. Morris has also published research on enterprise information portals and the requirements for unified access to structured and unstructured data. He analyzes the emerging alliances of software vendors in related segments by building models such as the application ecosystem, the vertical warehouse and the policy hub (linking analytics to business operations).

Paul Overberg is a database editor at USA TODAY, a position he has held since 1993. Chris Wade joined CPS as Chief Executive Officer in December 1998 following a number of senior executive roles in major global communications equipment vendors.
